The series under the heading of “Wednesday Night Meals” were delivered and intended for a Wednesday night meal setting.
Scripture Text: Matthew16:1-12
One of the most disappointing things under heaven is when people who claim to know God and to love His word find ways to manipulate the truth in order to exalt themselves and judge others. It was these kinds of people that proved to be the greatest critics and opponents of Jesus during His earthly ministry. Today’s message points out how much Jesus despised such things and warned His followers to be very careful not to let it happen their own lives.
I. You Cannot See God’s Work If You Choose Not To See It: Matthew 16:1-4
II. Even God’s People Cannot Learn God’s Ways If They Are Not Open to Teaching: Matthew 16: 5-12
Conclusion: People who do not want to see God at work in their lives, will be blind even to the clearest of evidence. Do not argue with them or try to prove what they won’t even consider. It will break your heart and leave them feeling like they proved their point. But the only point they prove is found in Psalm 14:1 “The fool has said in his heart, there is no God.” Second point, even believers can prove to be foolish if they hear God’s word like they want to hear it, rather than as God intends it to be heard. Either way, the overall teaching is, don’t be a fool!
